Friday Night Favorites Roll:
Friday night brought us a triple play of college football, and all three games featured double-digit favorites.
The fat number didn't end up being a problem for any of them. In the two matchups brought to you by the Mid-American Conference --- the official conference of weekday college football --- the chalks bagged the cash on their home fields. Bowling Green dropped Akron 36-20 giving 11 points, and Toledo bashed Eastern Michigan 47-21 laying 16 points.
Meanwhile, in a game that had much more significance with potential BCS ramifications, Boise State went off as a huge 23-point favorite at Utah State. The Broncos put together a 28-point second quarter, then continued pulling away in the second half for a 52-21 wipeout victory, making it a 3-0 SU and ATS night for the chalks.
The Broncos, unbeaten and ranked sixth, pretty much have to beat the living daylights out of their opponents to have any hope of playing in a BCS bowl, because fellow unbeaten TCU --- also in a non-BCS conference --- is ahead of them in the rankings.
God forbid two teams from non-BCS conferences actually get invited to a BCS bowl. It ain't gonna happen, even if it should. The BCS honchos will just keep repeating that infamous Jim Mora rant: "Playoffs? You kiddin' me? Playoffs?"
Adding Up College Football:
Friday's slate capped a sterling few days for the weekday favorites, who went 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS, with only No. 12 Oklahoma State minus its starting quarterback - failing to cover against dismal Colorado this week.
That allowed the chalks to finally overtake the dogs at the betting window. Through 50 weekday games this year, favorites now carry a 25-24-1 ATS mark. In addition, although only Boise State won from the visitor's role Friday, weekday road teams are 30-19-1 ATS on the season.
And how about those SU winners? They practically print money in weekday action, with all three of them cashing Friday night, five of six cashing this week and 39 of 50 beating the oddsmakers this year. The 39-10-1 ATS mark for the weekday favorites represents a spread-covering clip of 79.6 percent.
Easy money, right? Sure, if you can just pick the SU winner every time. Not quite as easy as it sounds.
College Football Two-Minute Drill:
Well, once again, it's Saturday, and it's fall, so it's wall-to-wall football. Time to send you into your weekend by delving into a big bundle of trends from today's full docket:
No. 9 Ohio State is 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings with archrival Michigan, heading into today's tilt at the Big House. Furthermore, the Buckeyes are on positive ATS runs of 37-18 overall, 20-6 on the highway and a superb 17-4 as a road chalk.
The Wolverines are on a 1-6 ATS purge and haven't cashed in their last six Big Ten home games.
No. 17 Wisconsin, visiting Northwestern, is on ATS slides of 4-11 on the road and 1-5 against winning teams.
Northwestern is 0-5 ATS at home this year, though it sports ATS upswings of 7-1 as a dog and 7-1 as a home pup.
Boston College, hosting North Carolina, is 6-0 SU at home this year and is on ATS rolls of 7-0 in the home jerseys, 4-1 laying points and 4-1 against winning teams.
No. 13 Penn State has cashed in its last three roadies and is 7-1 ATS in its last eight as a road favorite, with Michigan State up today.
The Spartans are in a 10-21 ATS rut in East Lansing, but they've gone 15-2-1 ATS in their last 18 home finales.
No. 14 Stanford, entertaining California in "The Big Game," is on pointspread tears of 11-0 at home, 9-3 in the Pac-10, 8-3 against winning teams and 6-1 laying points.

No. 10 LSU, traveling to Mississippi, is on a bundle of pointspread freefalls, including 8-22-1 overall, 6-17-1 in the SEC, 4-8 on the road and 0-9 in November.
The Rebels are on ATS surges of 19-7 overall, 6-1 at home and 6-0 as a home chalk. Plus, in this rivalry, they've cashed in seven of the last eight clashes --- all from the underdog role.
Nebraska is on spread-covering runs of 8-3 overall, 5-2 in Lincoln and 7-2 against winning teams, and the Huskers are on a 4-0 SU run (3-1 ATS) in their rivalry with Kansas State.
Oklahoma is 12-4 SU and 11-5 ATS in its last 16 clashes with Texas Tech, heading into today's tilt in Lubbock.
