Berkman is undergoing an MRI in St. Louis on Monday to ensure that the diagnosis is correct. It's a tough blow to the Cardinals, who gave the 36-year-old first baseman a one-year, $12 million contract late last year. And it's also a tough blow for Berkman himself, as he may be forced into an early retirement. Matt Adams has taken over at first base for the defending World Series champs.

The Kemp-less Dodgers continue to hit, and this time Lohse was the victim. With four strikeouts, the veteran right-hander owns a respectable 36/9 K/BB mark, while his ERA slips to 2.91.

Not a bad start for the highly touted call-up. If the worst fears about Lance Berkman's injuries prove true, Adams could become a mainstay in the Cardinals lineup this season.

The third baseman is hitless in nine of his past 10 games, lowering his batting average to a season-low .259. Expect Freese to turn it around soon.

Descalso hasn't been playing much of late, and it will likely take more than one good game to change that. Tyler Greene and Skip Schumaker have both outhit him so far.

"If I've re-torn my ACL or something like that, I'd certainly get it fixed but you don't know how psychologically you're going to come back from something like that," Berkman said. "I'm not talking from the standpoint of being scared of hurting it again. I'm talking about doing everything it takes to come back and play again at an elite level. I think that's a legitimate question I'm going to have to answer if, in fact, it turns out to be something more serious than we hope that it is." At first, Berkman believed he injured his right meniscus on Saturday, but he seems to be coming to grips with the fact that he may have shredded his ACL. He'll find out on Monday.

Placed on the DL on Sunday, Berkman previously said he probably injured his right meniscus rather than his ACL, stating that the injury he suffered Saturday felt different than when he tore his ACL back in 2005 during a flag football game. Big Puma will get an MRI on Monday and we'll have a firm idea of his prognosis at that time. Matt Adams is in line for starts in his absence and should be owned in all leagues.
