Nate Irving - LB - Denver Broncos

Sporting News' Andrew Mason suggests that the Broncos may be ready to turn over their starting middle linebacker job to Nate Irving in 2012.

The 67th overall pick in last year's draft, the Broncos are smitten with Irving's "presence and potential," per Mason, and he may very well have started games in 2011 if not for the lockout-shortened offseason. Denver instead stuck with Joe Mays, a two-down thumper who lacks Irving's range, playmaking ability, and cover skills. Mays may be allowed to sign elsewhere this spring.

Tim Tebow - QB - Denver Broncos

According to the Denver Post, the Broncos' offseason plan is to add both a veteran and a prospect at quarterback.

The Broncos are "in the market" for a veteran as insurance for or competition against Tim Tebow. If the staff molds the offense to Tebow's talents, an option threat such as Dennis Dixon would make sense. Otherwise, the Broncos could make a run at a Chad Henne type. The prospect doesn't figure to come before the mid-rounds of the draft.

Austin Sylvester - RB - Denver Broncos

Broncos signed FB Austin Sylvester to a reserve/future contract.

A 2011 undrafted free agent out of Washington, the 255-pound Sylvester did not appear in a game as a rookie, spending most of the year on Denver's practice squad. Working in Sylvester's 2012 favor is Spencer Larsen's free agency.

Broncos Defense - TM - Denver Broncos

The Broncos have denied LBs coach Richard Smith permission to interview for the Raiders' defensive coordinator vacancy.

The Broncos won't be letting Dennis Allen pillage his former staff. Smith was a candidate to replace Allen as Broncos defensive coordinator before Jack Del Rio was hired. ESPN.com reports ex-Chargers DC Greg Manusky and 49ers DBs coach Ed Donatell are potential candidates to run Allen's defense in Oakland.

Eddie Royal - WR - Denver Broncos

Re-signing free agent WR Eddie Royal is not expected to be a priority for the Broncos.

The Denver Post previously reported the Broncos would like to retain Royal, but it's apparently not too high on the to-do list. Coming off a season where he caught just 19 passes in 12 games, keeping Royal wouldn't come with a prohibitive price tag.

Wesley Woodyard - LB - Denver Broncos

The Denver Post expects re-signing free agent LB Wesley Woodyard to be a priority for the Broncos.

Previously the Broncos' nickel linebacker and special teams captain, Woodyard took on a bigger role in 2011, cruising to a new career high in tackles (97). The Post also expects DT Brodrick Bunkley and K Matt Prater to be priorities amongst the Broncos' own free agents.

Knowshon Moreno - RB - Denver Broncos

FOX 31 Denver reports that Knowshon Moreno was arrested on drunken driving charges on February 1.

Moreno was driving a Bentley convertible 70MPH in a 45MPH construction zone last Wednesday. After pulling him over, police smelled alcohol on Moreno, and he "did poorly" in sobriety tests. The Bentley's license plate was personalized and read "SAUCED." The 12th overall pick in the 2009 draft, Moreno is quickly heading toward bust status. He is currently recovering from a torn right ACL suffered in November, lost his starting job to Willis McGahee in 2011, and has missed 12 games due to injury over the past two seasons.
