Tom Brady - QB - New England Patriots

Tom Brady is skipping the start of Patriots' voluntary offseason workouts to remain home in Los Angeles.

Brady is still training diligently, but he points out that his lifestyle has changed with a wife and two kids. Hanging out with supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen trumps time spent with Bill Belichick. We wouldn't read too much into Brady's absence.

Adalius Thomas - LB - New England Patriots

Patriots OLB Adalius Thomas was reportedly not in attendance as the team opened its offseason conditioning program Monday.

Thomas indicated to the Boston Herald via email that he didn't even know the program had started. Players usually receive invites to such functions, so it's possible the Pats don't want him there after a tumultuous 2009 season.

Adalius Thomas - LB - New England Patriots

Patriots OLB Adalius Thomas disputes ex-teammate Bart Scott's assertion that Thomas wants to play for the Jets.

"That's not what was said," Thomas stated. "I have never told anyone that I wanted to leave and go play for the Jets. I'm still a Patriot unless you know something I don't." Thomas isn't due any roster bonuses, so New England is hanging onto his rights for the moment. He'll be on the trade block in April.

Chris Baker - TE - Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks signed TE Chris Baker to a two-year, $4.75 million contract, including $2.75 million in the first season.

Coordinator Jeremy Bates has confirmed that he will run the two-tight end offense he learned under Mike Shanahan in Denver. Baker will play the blocking role while John Carlson handles receiving duties. The 30-year-old's addition is unlikely to have any effect on Carlson's fantasy value.

Wes Welker - WR - New England Patriots

According to the Boston Herald, Wes Welker is rehabbing a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder in addition to his torn ACL and MCL.

No timetable for his return has been given, but by all indications he isn't going to be ready for opening day. The shoulder injury likely required major surgery. We'd be surprised to see Welker on the field before Thanksgiving.

Ben Watson - TE - Cleveland Browns

Browns signed TE Ben Watson to a three-year, $12 million contract with $6.35 million guaranteed.

Watson chose Cleveland over Browns president Mike Holmgren's former team, the Seahawks. Though Evan Moore flashed pass-catching potential down the stretch, he remains a raw talent. The Browns fill a position of need while Watson receives his much-needed change of scenery. Cleveland's subpar passing attack, though, leaves him as a low-end TE2 in fantasy circles.

Stephen Neal - G - New England Patriots

Patriots RG Stephen Neal doesn't plan to play beyond the two years for which he just signed.

The 33-year-old contemplated retirement in January before re-signing with the Pats. After dealing with a litany of injuries the past three years, Neal wants to be able to walk away before the game ruins his legs.
