Kobe plays well, gets little help in loss
Kobe Bryant - G - Los Angeles Lakers
April 17, 2011 - 6:30 PM ET

Kobe Bryant hit 13-of-26 shots for 34 points and fought off a neck bruise to finish with four rebounds, five assists and a 3-pointer in Sunday's shocking loss to the Hornets.

Kobe played well and the injury he suffered just before halftime doesn't appear to be serious. But despite the return of Andrew Bynum, the Lakers were sluggish from the start tonight and find themselves in an 0-1 hole that could be tough to crawl out of if they don't get it turned around quickly in Game 2. Not only was this Phil Jackson's first ever Game 1 loss at home in the playoffs, but with the Spurs also losing today, it marks the first time in modern history the No. 1 and 2 seeds in one conference have lost Game 1.
