Kevin Durant took charge of an aimless Scott Brooks offense in the Thunder's Game 1 loss on Tuesday, scoring 40 points on 10-of-18 shooting (2-of-5 from deep, 18-of-19 from the line) with eight rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocks.
Durant improved in each phase of getting open and being assertive, but watching Dallas seamlessly enter the ball into their best player, Dirk Nowitzki, it's clear to everybody outside of the Thunder locker room that they're not operating optimally. Durant had a great night, but Scott Brooks, Durant, and Russell Westbrook each need to reassess their strategy (in that order).
