Bucs willing to cover $10M of Burnett's deal
A.J. Burnett - S - New York Yankees
Feb. 10, 2012 - 4:55 PM ET

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Pirates are willing to cover $10 million of the $33 million left on A.J. Burnett's contract.

Heyman reported Friday morning that the Pirates had yet to agree to cover $10 million, but the two sides are clearly making some progress. The Yankees have asked for a decent prospect in return, but the quality of the prospect will be directly affected by how much Pittsburgh is willing to pay. It's unlikely somebody else will be willing to cover more of Burnett's salary than the Bucs, so this deal has a decent chance of happening.
